THE RING 2012 -Models and Designers Battle Show

The second edition of Posh Entertainment s annual talent show was held on 14 December 2012 at the Game City Terrace Gaborone. Much to the delight of its growing legion of fans the show came back in 2012 bigger and better. It had two categories the Models Battle show and Designers battle show. According to Posh Inc. managing director Pony Poomore the shows theme the boxing ring- was motivated by one the desire to move away from the ordinary concepts associated with many talent shows. Secondly the concept of the boxing ring creates a unique and competitive atmosphere for the participants and this stimulates them to strive to attain high levels of achievements. According to Pony the combination of a runway and boxing ring concept is rare and refreshing as well as challenging models to be creative and innovative. Six young up-coming and established fashion designers took part in the Designers battle show Theorags Jessica Sweety Makay Thuto and Thato. Their exceptional creations vied for the top spot in the gothic couture and avant-garde categories of the competition. The young designers impressed all and sundry. The depth of creativity of these young Batswana designers and their potential to excel on the international level was brought to the fore by the fresh and outstanding creations the young designers showcased. The Ring Designers Battle title eventually went to 27 year old designer Theorags whose passion for fashion began some 16years ago. He took home the title and cash prize of P10 000. Jessica was second and Makay was third. The auditions of the Models Battle Show attracted lots of local aspiring and established models aged between 14 and 25 out of which 12 ( 9 females and 3 males) were selected to take part in the finals during the Ring Show. The models wore two garments each per category gothic couture and avant-garde and they all were dressed by the designers who participated in the Designers Battle Show. The models impressed the judges as they brought the freshness never seen before on the local modelling scene. According to Pony It was spectacular how the Ring contesting models were up-beat and brought out their best. So did the designers - their collections were out of this world unique and distinctive. Male model Mateja Stojanovic scooped the first prize of P10 000 from an equally dazzling and determined fellow contestants. Eda Selwana came second and Anitah Tshane was third. The Ring 2012 Models and Designers Battle Show was adjudicated by Limkokwing Fashion Lecturer Nelly Modigah Tebogo Lerole (Tebza) of South African music group Kwela Tebza and Mike S a local fashion photographer. Loose Cat the 2011 Ring Champ performed the Ring s theme song. A.T.I the rising Hip Hop/Motswako artist also gave a sterling performance on the night. The 2012 Ring Show was hosted by Khanyi Mbau (South African socialite) and Antony Sefhemo a fashion designer (participant in the first Colour in the Desert fashion show).
